Kids' Shoe Size Chart: Measure at Home

Why Kids' Shoe Sizing Is Different

Children's feet grow fast — sometimes up to two sizes per year. Wearing the wrong shoe size can affect their posture, comfort, and foot development. That's why it's important to measure their feet regularly, especially before buying new shoes online.

How to Measure Your Child's Foot at Home

You'll need: a piece of paper, a pencil, and a ruler.

  1. Place the paper on a hard floor and have your child stand on it with their heel against a wall.
  2. Trace around their foot with the pencil held straight up.
  3. Measure the distance from the heel to the longest toe in centimeters.
  4. Add 1 cm for growing room.
  5. Use the chart below to find the right size.

Tip: Always measure both feet — kids often have one foot slightly larger than the other. Use the larger measurement.

Tips for Buying Kids' Shoes Online

  • Always add 1 cm to the measured foot length for growing room.
  • Check the brand's specific size chart — sizes can vary between manufacturers.
  • Opt for adjustable closures (velcro, elastic laces) for younger kids for easy on/off.
  • Re-measure every 3 months for toddlers and every 6 months for older kids.
  • Avoid buying too big — more than 1.5 cm of growing room can cause tripping and discomfort.

Signs Your Child Has Outgrown Their Shoes

  • They complain their feet hurt or feel tight
  • You can see their toes pressing against the front of the shoe
  • Red marks or blisters after wearing
  • They walk awkwardly or trip more than usual
